NorthBay Supporter Treks for Women's HealthAugust 30, 2010 Championing the spirit of adventurous women everywhere, longtime NorthBay Healthcare supporter Heidi Campini set out Aug. 26 on an eight-week journey that she expects will challenge her physically, mentally and spiritually. It's called "Camino de Santiago de Compostela," a 500-mile trek, starting high in the Pyrennes Mountains, through the high deserts of northern Spain, ending at the Cathedral of St. James. New Chairman for Wine & Food JubileeAugust 30, 2010 After serving as chairman of the Solano Wine & Food Jubilee for the past four years, NorthBay Healthcare Foundation board member Wayne Senalik has decided to pass the reins over to fellow Foundation board member Chris Sweeney for the 2011 event. "We raised nearly $1 million through the Wine & Food Jubilee during the past four years," Senalik said. "It's been a great run and now it's time to pass the torch." Family Safety Event Set Sept. 17August 26, 2010 NorthBay Healthcare presents "Live Healthy + Play Safe," a safety and emergency fair for families from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at the Nut Tree Plaza. During the event, parents and children can meet representatives from Vacaville fire and police and EMS departments, learn about CALSTAR and REACH emergency rescue helicopters, and find out how to respond to or who to call in an emergency, whether it's dealing with the aftermath of a fall or an earthquake. Silver Safari for NICU's 25thAugust 24, 2010 A jungle adventure awaited the many graduates of NorthBay Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and their families Saturday, Aug. 21, as the annual reunion celebrated the unit's silver anniversary. More than 200 people filled the NorthBay Healthcare Administrative Building in Green Valley to enjoy games, crafts and a barbecue while renewing friendships with parents and hospital staff. The oldest "graduate" was 21-year-old Jonathan Hughes of Vacaville, who hasn't missed a reunion, while the youngest was 3-month-old Salman Madraswala of Vallejo. Join NorthBay Pulmonologist Donald Doyle, M.D., for a discussion on common sleep problems and how to get a good night's sleep. "For the Rest of Your Life," is 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9. Sleep conditions affect nearly one quarter of the U.S. population, yet many people don't even know they have one. NorthBay Healthcare Welcomes New PhysiciansAugust 5, 2010 Three new physicians have joined NorthBay Healthcare. Obstetrician/gynecologist Madhavi Vemulapalli, M.D., has joined the NorthBay Center for Women's Health in Fairfield. She earned her doctor of medicine degree from American University of the Caribbean, St. Martin, Netherlands Antilles. NorthBay Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a reunion party for all NICU graduates and their families on Saturday, Aug. 21. The party is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NorthBay Healthcare Administration Center, 4500 Business Center Drive in Fairfield. To celebrate 25 years, families of NICU graduates are urged to send in their "birth stories" and win a prize. The authors of the first 25 stories will each win a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble book store. The best five stories chosen for publication will receive a professional family portrait. Stories should be 400 words or less and sent via e-mail to mranson@northbay.org or brought to the NICU reunion. Guild Golf & Tennis Classic a Swinging SuccessJuly 15, 2010
Clad in black-and-white aprons, outfits and uniforms, NorthBay Guild's scores of volunteers fanned out across the Green Valley Country Club July 12 to extend a formal welcome to all players in their 27th annual Golf & Tennis classic. Pat Dennis, president of the NorthBay Guild, said funds raised by the Guild will benefit several NorthBay Healthcare programs, including the Adult Day Center, the hospital pharmacy, Nurse Camp for local teens, and the nursing simulation laboratory, used for ongoing training of healthcare staff. NorthBay Primary Care Doctors Rate Among BestJune 30, 2010 Physicians and specialists affiliated with NorthBay Healthcare were rated among the highest in the state of California by their patients in a special Quality Report Card released by the state Office of Patient Advocate. When asked if they would recommend their doctor to family and friends, patients of NorthBay's doctors overwhelmingly said yes. Physicians were ranked in the top 8 percent of the 139 medical groups participating in the annual study. NorthBay Nurses Share Know-HowJune 26, 2010
NorthBay Healthcare's award-winning Nurse Academy hosted its sixth annual Nurse Camp June 22-25 and received rave reviews from its 30 teen participants. The teens, age 15 to18, spent two days at NorthBay VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville and two days at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield, Calif., learning what it takes to be a nurse. At the end of the fourth day, the teens' only complaint was that Nurse Camp was too short. |
