Murals provided by Perot organization

Perot Systems has brightened the walls, the floors and the outlook of NorthBay Healthcare's Adult Day Center in Vacaville with a community art project and donation.

At a celebration earlier this month, Adult Day Center Program Manager Sandy Perez thanked members of the Perot team, based in Plano, Texas, for bringing art, color and memories into the center in such a vibrant way. Founded more than 20 years ago by Ross Perot, Perot Systems Corp. is a global provider of technology and business services, with a heavy focus on hospital systems.
NorthBay's Chief Financial Officer Art DeNio entered NorthBay Healthcare into a drawing sponsored by Perot Systems at a healthcare and technology conference, and NorthBay was selected as one of three hospitals to receive the donation. Other winning facilities were in Arcata and Spokane, Wash.

Seven mosaic murals were mounted on the walls inside the Vacaville center, which offers unique services for those suffering from Alzheimer's Disease or dementia. The mosaics were created by Yvonne Lucia, a retired nurse from Binghamton, N.Y., and depict colorful tile renditions of flowers, butterflies, birds and bees.

Also mounted on the wall is a new flat-screen television, which Perez said was thrilling to add, because the center's participants really respond to old movies, video and karaoke. "John Wayne videos are No. 1," she said with a smile. "We're also very good at karaoke."

In addition, part of the Perot Systems $3,000 donation will be used to purchase new carpeting for the facility, which Perez said is definitely appreciated.

"We were able to get something we desperately needed, something that's fun, and something that's beautiful. We just can't say thank you enough."
