February is Healthy Heart Month and activities are in full swing at NorthBay Healthcare, especially in Solano County's only STEMI Receiving Center and Chest Pain Center, as well as the first and busiest Trauma Center.

Our goal is to put ourselves out of business. Really. The last thing we want is for our friends and neighbors to experience health problems or emergencies. But when you do, we stand ready 24/7 with an expertly trained cadre ready to assist.

This blog entry comes your way via beautiful Palm Springs. No, I'm not loafing. I am attending the 34th annual conference of the Association of California Nurse Leaders.

This group represents a very large, diverse group of the "who's who" in nursing in California. So I get to rub elbows with an eclectic collection of some of the greatest minds in administration, academia and clinical nursing practice.

One year ago, my boss, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Kathy Richerson, appointed me interim director of Emergency Department Trauma Services, instructing me to build a Level III trauma program. It was a pivot point for NorthBay Healthcare and for Solano County and its residents.
