NorthBay schedules two clinics on Friday, Dec. 18

NorthBay Healthcare just wrapped up two back-to-back drive-through clinics on Monday and Tuesday in Fairfield and Vacaville, in which 900 doses were administered.

Another set of clinics is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, at 2458 Hilborn Road in Fairfield and 421 Nut Tree Road in Vacaville. Vaccine is offered free of charge, regardless of health plan affiliation.

There will be approximately 1,000 doses at each location, including injections and nasal flu mist. The clinics are open to all people except individuals showing any signs of illness, including respiratory infection, fever, coughing or flu- or cold-like symptoms.

NorthBay Healthcare encourages parents with children 9 and under to receive an H1N1 booster shot, noting a recent study by the National Institutes of Health that showed that a second shot of the H1N1 vaccine will increase a child's immunity from 25 percent to nearly 100 percent.

Clinic officials suggest wearing light clothing, or short-sleeve shirts, making it easier to receive the injections. Another way to shorten the time it takes to get through the line is to fill out a consent form in advance. Click on the Consent Form button.
